About the event
Oklahoma - the Sooner State - has been witness to numerous strange and unusual events over its history and that include things zipping across its skies and landing on its soil. Author Marilyn A. Hudson serves as tour guide to a collection of the assorted events that had people looking up to search the skies from 1947 to 1969. Drawn from government records, newspapers, personal accounts and local legends she shares what people saw, what some said the objects were and provides some information and questions along the way.Today, as 'Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" are becoming news worthy and the term is replacing the well worn "Flying Saucers" and "UFO's" of the past, take a trip to see what was going on over Oklahoma skies...You might be surprised.Marilyn A. Hudson, is an Oklahoma research, author, and storyteller who has written both fiction and nonfiction.
The late Oklahoma urban historian Doug Dawgz called her the 'genie of bizarre historical research' for her ability to find
information and author Keith Pyeatt described her fiction writing as ‘darkly poetic’ ... Marilyn A. Hudson has blended her love of history with research and unending curiosity to craft works of fiction and information. She has been a library professional in public, school, and academic libraries. Her general research interests are history, especially social, folklore and storytelling. She started writing by authoring essays, articles, and editorials in a number of periodicals, serving as a contributing editor for two and as a newspaper stringer in Enid, Oklahoma. Over the years she has been newsletter editor for several organizational newsletters. Hudson has presented workshops, speeches, and shared stories related to her research to a diverse range of audiences she kept spellbound and engaged.
Hudson has written in several genres. Her published works include the popular Oklahoma Bad Girls, The Mound (co-written with Cullan Hudson), The Bones of Summer, Foul Harvest, The Sword of Anath, When Death Rode the Rails, Murderous Marriages, and Sooner Saucers: Oklahoma UFOs 1947-1969. She is working on completing two projects: Sooner Saucers: Vol.2 and Kansas Encounters: UFO’s over the Sunflower State. She is actively soliciting first person accounts for these two works. “I have already received some fascinating accounts that, I believe, have never been shared before.” She said. “I am looking forward to seeing more. Like a puzzle – every little piece is important to understanding the whole.”
She has a contact form on her popular blog, UFO SKIES, where people can submit their detailed stories for inclusion in the works or they may be sent to the emails listed above.
She received a B.A. in History and the M.L.I.S. (Master of Library and Information Studies) from the University of Oklahoma. She lives along Route 66 in Stroud, Oklahoma and in her spare time gets her kicks traveling with her husband and taking inastronomical sights along the way.
